THE BRAND

Why Monk? To answer that, we need to rewind a few years.

Adrian and I met during our university studies. We had the chance to take a unique degree that kept us traveling and living abroad, which created a deep bond between us. Right before finishing our degree, we launched a startup in the electric motorcycle industry. For four years, we built something incredible—until we were scammed by a manufacturer and forced to shut down (a lesson learned that won't happen again).

Afterwards, we felt lost without a project to pursue. Around that time, we both decided to start taking better care of ourselves. As you can imagine, sitting for 14 hours a day with no exercise left us in rough shape after four years of startup life.

In Spanish, we have a phrase: "culos inquietos"—which literally translates to "restless assets," or people who just can't sit still. We needed to build something new, fast.

Looking at the market, nothing satisfied us. There wasn't a running brand that offered the true sense of belonging we were seeking. The giant legacy brands felt diluted—built for everyone and no one at the same time—while the emerging brands were still missing something that truly aligned with our values and mindset.

That is how Monk was born.

We wanted a brand that represents the core values that have shaped us throughout our lives and entrepreneurial journeys—values we believe can foster a more mentally resilient community. At the heart of it all is resilience: the strength to overcome whatever challenges life throws at us, paired with relentless perseverance.

This philosophy is built into our logo. The continuous loop isn't just a representation of a running track; it symbolizes the full circle of beginnings and ends. It reminds us that no matter how many times we fall, we get back up and go again.

STRATEGY DAYS 07 2026

Berlin - Copenhagen

One day after Spain was crowned world champion for the second time, our strategy days began. This time they weren't going to be the usual kind: instead of a meeting room, we chose a bike, a map and 421 kilometres between Berlin and Copenhagen.
